The following list includes scheduled community class dates. If you have additional needs please feel free to contact our office with your specific needs.
To register for one of the classes below contact the office in the county the class is scheduled in to regsiter and pay for the course.
Participants will learn rescue breathing, determining unconsciousness, clearing an obstructed airway and performing one-rescuer CPR. Information about automated external defibrillator (AED) will be provided, and participants will also learn proper injury prevention and first aid skills. Cost is $50.00
Sat., Dec. 12th 9a to 5p @ Miami Co.
Topics covered include rescue breathing, determining unconsciousness, clearing an obstructed airway and performing one-rescuer CPR. Information about automated external defibrillator (AED) and injury prevention will be provided. Cost is $35.00.
Tues., Dec. 15th 6p to 10p @ Wabash Co.
Review class for previously certified layperson. Skills checks include rescue breathing, determining unconsciousness, clearing an obstructed airway and performing one-rescuer CPR for adults, children, and infants. Cost is $25.00.
Mon., Dec. 7th 6p to 9p @ Miami Co.
Thur., Dec. 17th 6p to 9p @ Wabash Co.
Prepares the professional rescuer to care for choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Specific skills include one-and two-rescuer CPR; AED using resuscitation mask, and using a bag-valve mask.
Review class for previously certified professional rescuers. Participants are tested on their ability to care for choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants, one-and two-rescuer CPR, AED using resuscitation mask, and using a bag-valve mask.
Training provides 11 to 15 year-olds with the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and children. Topics include injury prevention, first aid, basic childcare, decision making, problem solving and leadership skills.
Participants learn essential first aid skills, such as determining unconsciousness, treating cuts,
scrapes, and burns; controlling bleeding; treating injuries to bones, muscles and joints; and preventing and caring for sudden illness, including heat and cold emergencies.
Participants will learn about the transmission of disease, employer’s exposure control plan, and emergency follow-up procedures.
roject Project 5,000 BEATS (Being Educated and Trained Saves lives) is a new training goal and campaign that will focus on training at least 5,000 Wabash and Miami County citizens between now and June 30, 2010.
Would you know what to do if you were faced with an emergency? If not, then you need to take a Red Cross health and safety course and become 1 of the 5,000 trained this year.
Registration and Cancellation Policies: Please pre-register with payment at least three days prior to the class. In the event that a course is cancelled or has been filled to capacity, participants will be contacted as soon as possible to transfer to another class at no extra charge. If you cannot attend a course you are registered for, please call and notify the Health and Safety department at least three working days before the class begins to receive your refund or to transfer to another class. Please note: CPR Training courses require kneeling and working on the floor to fulfill the skills portion of the class. Loose, modest, comfortable clothing is best suited for this purpose. Skirts, neckties, and dresses are not recommended. If you are attending a review class, please bring your course book with you. If you no longer have your book, please contact us prior to the class to purchase a new one.
